Communications Officer

MRDC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications Officer to join the Communications Team. Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will play a key role in developing and implementing communication strategies that advance the company’s objectives. Your focus will be on creating and managing impactful internal and external communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with MRDC’s brand and mission. This exciting role involves content creation, media relations, and contributing to communication initiatives that enhance our corporate image.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute engaging external and internal communication materials to a diverse audience, including subsidiaries, impacted communities, stakeholders, project developers, national and subnational governments, media, and the public.
  • Lead and produce the MRDC “Tokaut” Newsletter, driving its innovative transition to a digital format for wider reach.
  • Develop innovative communication tools and strategies to elevate MRDC’s visibility, both online and offline.
  • Create communication templates for consistent use across MRDC’s business units.
  • Plan and manage MRDC engagement events, including generating fresh ideas for new initiatives.
  • Prepare event content, including background documents and speaking notes for executives.
  • Establish and maintain an organized system for storing articles, materials, and communication resources.
  • Monitor news coverage and track relevant analytics and metrics.
  • Ensure all communications and publicity materials adhere to MRDC’s brand guidelines.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts (Journalism, Public Relations, Media, or related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in media, journalism, event management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent business writing and reporting skills, with a strong understanding of finance, investment, and economics.
  • Familiarity with best practices in mainstream and social media.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project and event management tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and presentation skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach.
