GR Hides No.4 Limited Opens New Learning Facility in Hela Province

Gas Resources Hides No.4 Limited opened a new 4-in-1 double-storey classroom at Mananda Jr. High School in Komo District, Hela Province.

The classroom is the first project for the PDL7 Landowner Beneficiaries, in Hela Province and was developed through a partnership between the Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) and GR Hides No.4 Limited through their Community Investment Trust Program.

The opening ceremony was attended by company directors, including Komo Hulia Member Hon. Daniel Tandipu, Hela Deputy Governor Charles Haluya, and MRDC Executives.

Hon Daniel Tindipu highlighted the significance of the new classroom, “This building will provide a modern learning environment for the students of Mananda Jr. High School, enhancing their educational opportunities.”

He also praised the collaboration, “It is encouraging to see project partners working together for the benefit of communities affected by the PNG LNG project. I commend GR Hides No.4 and MRDC for supporting the government in delivering essential infrastructure.”

MRDC General Manager for External Affairs, Bartholomew Yacop, affirmed MRDC’s commitment to community development, “MRDC is proud to support projects that directly benefit rural areas. We have invested significant resources to ensure these initiatives bring real benefits to the communities we serve.”

The project was made possible through the efforts of several key partners, including contractor Timalia Gangulu Hahai Limited, Trans Wonderland Limited for transport, and Hides Gas Development Company Limited for storage and site facilities. These local companies, owned by the community, reflect MRDC’s commitment to partnerships that benefit the people.

MRDC Managing Director expressed satisfaction with the project, stating, “MRDC’s impact in the communities we serve is significant. We are currently building important infrastructure in health, education, and economic sectors. Subsidiaries under MRDC management have delivered over PGK40 million in projects since 2018.”

The local community have expressed their appreciation for the project, noting its positive impact on students and the broader community. We extend our gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their support in making this project a reality.
