Position Vacancy – Senior Accountant – Petroleum
Are you a seasoned and dedicated Petroleum Accountant eager to apply your expertise in a high-impact role within the oil and gas industry?
We’re searching for a driven and detail-oriented finance professional to join our team in Port Moresby. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial management within a fast-paced, evolving sector.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in the administration of petroleum contracts.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
- Calculate production revenue and royalty payments.
- Conduct variance analysis, financial forecasting, and budgeting.
- Oversee Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Compile and reconcile key data for income and production tax filings.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation, revenue tracking, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct audits of petroleum operations, revenues, and expenditures.
- Audit and monitor petroleum revenues, including royalty, Government production share, and revenues from Government participation in commercial fields
What You’ll Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically in the oil and gas industry, is highly desired.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with JIB and revenue accounting is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- CPA certification is highly preferred.
