Position Vacancy – Senior Accountant – Petroleum

Are you a seasoned and dedicated Petroleum Accountant eager to apply your expertise in a high-impact role within the oil and gas industry?
We’re searching for a driven and detail-oriented finance professional to join our team in Port Moresby. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial management within a fast-paced, evolving sector.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the administration of petroleum contracts.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
  • Calculate production revenue and royalty payments.
  • Conduct variance analysis, financial forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Oversee Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Compile and reconcile key data for income and production tax filings.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation, revenue tracking, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct audits of petroleum operations, revenues, and expenditures.
  • Audit and monitor petroleum revenues, including royalty, Government production share, and revenues from Government participation in commercial fields

What You’ll Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically in the oil and gas industry, is highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting principles and practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with JIB and revenue accounting is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • CPA certification is highly preferred.
