This marks a key event in the history of Post PNG and also the people of Kikori, Gulf Province and Papua New Guinea. The opening of this Post Office is significant for Post PNG as a crucial supplier of basic postal, logistical and financial services to the people of this District.

Previously, Kikori District benefitted from postal services supplied by our Postal Agent.

The Postal Agent predominantly provided some of the basic but vital postal services within the District, to the Provinces, and around Papua New Guinea and the world.

Products and services provided back then included Mail Services, Private Letter Boxes, Mail Bag Service, Post Cards and Postage Stamp.

About 2 years ago, the presence of postal service in the District ceased. However, this memorable event today will mark the new beginning for the people of Kikori in accessing some of the basic services they once had no access such as Postal, Financial services and others.

These achievements would not be possible without the assistance of the Minerals Resources Development Company (MRDC), PRK, the people of Kikori and the Government.

There are 38 Official Post Offices and 2 Agencies providing full postal and logistical Services. Post PNG Ltd within the Province.

Indeed, organizations must move with time, in terms of global changes, modern technology such as use of email, mobile phones and Internet service that have greatly impacted the postal business.

All Post Offices are now automated with the recent introduction of mobile SMK as well as the tracking and tracing of Express Mail Services parcels online.

On this memorable occasion, I must thank and congratulate all those who have worked so hard in contributing to the opening of this new office. The building opens up a new space for commitment and importance and is designed to meet the increasing demand and expectations of the people of Kikori.
