The Mineral Resource Ok Tedi No 2 (MROT), subsidary company of the Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) has come to the aid of the Paediatric Society of Papua New Guinea with a donation of ten thousand kina (K10,000).
The sponsorship will go towards assisting the Society with hosting the 42nd Paediatrics Medical Symposium in 2016 and will also be used forthe purchase of urgent medical consumables for the childrens wards at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
MRDC recognises the important role and work of the Society in its endevours to provide paediatric health care throughout the country.
MRDC Company Secretary, Richard Aupae in presenting the cheque to the Society on behalf of the Board of MROT said by making this donation the company wanted to contribute meaningfully towards a healthy and happy future generation of PNG who will one day contribute to the futher development and growth of the country.
Dr James Amini, President of the Paediatic Society of PNG and Chief Paediatrician PMGH said the donation was timely especially for the purchase of medical consumables for the Childrens wards.
“We’re always in need of day to day medical supplies such as intravenous cafeteters, lines, feeding tubes and medications outside of the Department of Health supplies”, said Dr. Amini.
The PMGH has three paediatrics wards, two in the main hospital and the nursury ward at the PMGH Maternity units. All three house and care for up to 200 children and infants a day.

The symposium brings peadiatics medical specialist together to discuss ways on how to improve the health and wellbeing of infants in the country and the company is delighted to play a supporting role through this donation.
