While this quarter saw the election of new Members of Parliament of which a few were welcomed into the boards of MRDC’s trustee companies, MRDC had to say goodbye to one its own who successfully contested this National General Elections.
Manasseh Makiba, MRDC’s Legal Manager earlier this year resigned to contest the Komo-Magarima electorate seat in Hela Province and won.
33-year-old Makiba decided to follow in the footsteps of his late father by getting into politics. Manasseh had contested the same seat in the 2012 General Elections right after he completed university and came runner up to the winner. After experiencing a close call to winning, he decided to give it another go, this time coming out victorious.
After the declaration and first official parliament sitting in which he and 110 other MP’s were sworn in, MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano hosted a luncheon for Makiba to congratulate him for his victory and also to farewell him from the company.
The luncheon was attended by MRDC management and staff who had worked with Makiba for the last three years.
Makiba first joined MRDC in August 2015 as Legal Manager overseeing all legal aspects of MRDC’s operations.
