Star Mountain Plaza and the Mineral Resource Development Company officially opened and handed over the refurbished Hohola Police Station worth K500,000 kina on the 17th of May 2018 to the Hohola Police and the community.
Managing Director for MRDC Augustine Mano said the project is a community investment with an aim to improve policing in our community’s and to make it safe and sound for everyone.
The police station located along Spring Garden road on a higher ground on the left just at the Hohola tunnel driving towards the Hohola Market from Murry Barracks stood an old ignored building since 1974 whose police man and community never gave up on providing services to its people.
With support from MRDC and Star Mountain the opening of the refurbished building was an event in history for the community.
Worth K500,000 the works include a complete makeover, inside and out and 3x printers (1x large colour copier/printer), 7x desktop computers, 2x laptops complete with Microsoft Office Professional, anti-virus software, 25 lockers, desks and chairs from SMPL.
MRCD Managing Director Augustine Mano when addressing all present to witness the event said, both physical and visual security is very important.
He further added most times we hear big companies investment in most of the projects but for this one alone it is significantly contributions from land owner companies – Petroleum Resource Kutubu ,Mineral Resource Ok Tedi and Mineral Resource Star Mountain.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou thanked MRDC and Star Mountain for the initiative and challenged the Hohola Police to be thankful and step up in terms of providing the best services to the people.
N’Dranou urged his police men to engage in direct access from the street frontages and engagement with the public realm for it is important in making the public and community comfortable in accessing the police station and interacting with the officers for a better and safer community.
