MRDC has honoured 69 of its long serving employees in a special awards presentation held on Monday this week.

The event, the first of its kind for the organization, was held to honour their loyalty and dedication to the company over a long period of time.

Collectively, the 69 staff contributed more than 100 years of service combined to MRDC. Speaking to them at the event,

Managing Director of MRDC Augustine Mano – who was also honoured for 13 years of service to the company, said he was proud of their hard work and dedication over many years.

“I want to commend all of you for this milestone achievement in your careers.”

“Each of you have been loyal and committed to serving MRDC over the years and all your efforts have ensured the company delivered on its objectives and vision year in, year out.”

Mr Mano made special mention of Kini Renagi and Kilangit Sapulai, two longest serving employees with 25 years each with the organization, describing them as “the immovable rock of MRDC.”

“Their loyalty and perseverance to remain steadfast with the company, often in the face of tumultuous challenges, is very inspiring to us.”

“The kind of challenges we encounter, especially out in the field where risks to safety and life are high, the faint hearts would have given up and left for greener, safer pastures.

But not these two.” “They have remained loyal and steadfast with the company, abiding by its values, confident in its mission to deliver a better life for those we are entrusted to serve, our beneficiaries.”

Kini is the Ok Tedi Manager, managing the affairs of the Ok Tedi Land owners, while Kilangit is the Senior Treasury Officer attached to MRDC’s Treasury division.

Mr Mano also paid homage to Late Imbi Tagune, who headed MRDC’s Client Services division until his passing.

“Late Imbi Tagune, the General, as we affectionately call him, has spent over 30 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. Of this, over 20 years was with MRDC until his untimely passing last year.” Each of the staff honoured received a certificate and a gratuity payment from the company.

Also present to witness the event was Ambassador Isaac Lupari, Chairman of the MRDC Board and MRDC board members – William Searson and Joseph Kup.
